Monaco has played Sam since October 2003. Lindsay Hartley stepped into Sam's shoes late last week at the funeral of the baby that Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) was expecting for Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos).

Some initially speculated that Hartley would replace Monaco, but the series decided to drop the character entirely.

It's a sad turn of events, as there was so much hope that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam would find each other again.
