Nicole Kidman’s new drama is her “most insightful”

In BabygirlNicole Kidman plays Romy, a powerful executive who struggles to maintain her perfect personality. Her marriage to Jacob was never very happy, despite him being caring and artistic. But when Romy meets a young intern named Samuel and is immediately attracted to him, the two begin a passionate affair.

“Doing this subject in the hands of the woman who wrote the script, who is directing it and is a really great actress herself – we became one in a strange way that I've never experienced with a director before,” Kidman said in a statement. “When you work with a woman on this subject, you can share everything with each other.”

“I really decided from the beginning that I wanted to make a sexual film, just as sexual as all the films I've always admired,” adds screenwriter, director and producer Halina Reijn, “but now I'm going to make it completely from a woman's perspective. What does that mean and what does that look like?”
