Motorcyclist killed in Burlington County crash: police

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man died in an accident last weekend when his overturned motorcycle threw him into a tree, authorities said.

Troopers responded to the one-vehicle crash on Route 542 in Washington Township, Burlington County, at 9:58 p.m. Sunday. The driver – Andrew Uveges, 31 – suffered fatal injuries, according to Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron, a state police spokesman.

Uveges, who lived in Tuckerton, Ocean County, was a dedicated mechanic known for his passion and “extraordinary” skills, his obituary said.

“Andrew will be remembered for his warm soul, infectious laughter and the joy he brought to everyone he met,” said the obituary released by Layton's Home For Funerals in Forked River. “He was a cherished father, brother, son and friend. Everyone will sorely miss his vibrant presence in their lives.”

According to a preliminary accident investigation, Uveges was traveling westbound on Route 542. His Harley-Davidson motorcycle veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting Uveges and striking a tree, Lebron said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information was available as of Tuesday morning, Lebron said.
