Caitlin Clark 'looked really weak' during shock over her ankle injury

Caitlin Clark made a joke at her own expense after watching the replay of her ankle sprain maneuver during the first half of the Fever's 84-79 win over the Dream on Monday night.

The Fever rookie sprained her ankle on defense in the first quarter, fell to the ground and held her ankle while doubled over in pain.

“I saw the replay and I look really soft,” Clark said, drawing laughs from Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and head coach Christie Sides. “It wasn't that bad of a takedown, but it hurt.”

“Sometimes you just have to take a second. If you've sprained your ankle before, it just stings a little bit, so that was OK for me.”

Clark walked to the bench under his own power and was eyed by the training staff.

The star rookie was seen sitting there without shoes and with a taped ankle.
