A new Nintendo Direct is just around the corner, and the showcase will be a 2-for-1 special. That's because Nintendo has announced a livestream for today, August 27, that will start with an Indie World presentation and then transition into a Partner Showcase. The Nintendo Direct for August 2024 begins on Tuesday, August 27th at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET.

What to expect

First of all, Nintendo has made it perfectly clear that there will be nothing Switch 2-related. The company even published a follow-up post on X to confirm this point and keep people's expectations in check.

With that cleared up, folks will naturally be hoping for an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong in the Indie Showcase portion. At one point, Silksong was scheduled to release in the first half of 2023 before Team Cherry delayed the game. Earlier this month, Geoff Keighley announced that Silksong would not be shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

As for the Partner Showcase portion of the presentation, there are a handful of games coming to Switch before the end of the year that would make sense to be included. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, for example, could be in the spotlight, as it's a remake of a Wii exclusive and is coming on September 23rd. It also wouldn't be surprising to see Level 5 make a splash with upcoming titles like Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, which is coming in 2025.
