Car accidents in Michigan

Kent, MI – Car crash reported on I-196 near 28th StreetEach year in Michigan, many people are hospitalized due to injuries sustained in car accidents. These victims often have to undergo surgeries and lengthy rehabilitation procedures that sometimes last weeks or even months after the accident. The most common injuries resulting from these incidents can have a significant impact on a person's health and well-being. These include:

  • Bone fractures: Fractures are particularly common in car accidents due to the sudden force involved. These injuries can range from small tears to complete breaks and often require surgery, the application of casts, and a long recovery period that may include rehabilitation and physical therapy to regain full strength and mobility.
  • Torn ligaments: Ligament injuries, such as anterior or posterior cruciate ligament injuries in the knee, can be incredibly painful and debilitating. Surgical treatment is usually required to restore stability to the joint, followed by rigorous physical therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscles and ensure a successful recovery.
  • Broken ribs: Rib fractures are not only very painful, but can also lead to complications such as lung ruptures or damage to internal organs. These injuries can cause significant breathing difficulties and require careful medical evaluation and treatment to prevent further complications and ensure proper healing.
  • Organ damage: Internal injuries are among the most serious consequences of traumatic events because they can be life-threatening. These injuries often require immediate emergency surgery to treat problems such as internal bleeding or organ rupture, followed by intensive care to monitor recovery and treat complications.
  • Spinal cord injury: Spinal cord damage is one of the most serious consequences of an accident and can result in paralysis, loss of sensation or other long-term disabilities. Such injuries can dramatically alter a victim's life and require long-term medical care, rehabilitation and significant adjustments to daily life. The psychological impact is also profound and often requires support and counselling as those affected cope with their new reality.
