Tragic drowning accident claims two lives in Chiri River

Cachar, August 27: A devastating incident occurred in Chiri river near Kamranga in Lakhipur, Cachar district, leading to the tragic death of labourer couple Jaggu Kal and Anjana Kal.

The couple drowned while bathing in the river on Saturday. Anjana Kal suddenly dived under water and her husband Jaggu Kal tried to save her but unfortunately lost his life in the process.

A joint search operation by police and SDRF forces was launched, but initial attempts to find the bodies were unsuccessful. On Monday evening, locals discovered the bodies near Lakhipur Kangali Basti, several kilometers from the original site.

The police were immediately informed and the bodies were taken to Silchar Medical College for autopsy.

The incident is currently under investigation and further details are awaited. This tragic incident has left the community in shock and condolences are being sent to the grieving family.
