Doctor arrested for sexual assault and rape

FORREST CITY, Ark. (KAIT) – Special agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested a Forrest City doctor on Aug. 26 on six counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of aggravated rape.

A press release said the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office asked the ASP in August 2023 to investigate 60-year-old Dr. Sudesh Banaji on allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with female patients during examinations at his medical clinic in Forrest City.

According to online jail records from the Cross County Sheriff's Office, Banaji was released on $35,000 bail.
