Man on the run after repeatedly sexually abusing his teenage daughter

Thane: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and beaten several times by her father in Badlapur town in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday. The 54-year-old accused is on the run and police have launched an operation to trace and arrest him, they said.

“The accused frequently beat his minor daughter and raped her several times. The latest incident took place on August 22, after which the girl ran away from home out of fear but later returned. On Monday, she went to the police and filed a complaint against her father,” said an officer from Badlapur East police station.

Based on her complaint, the police have filed a charge against the man under sections 64 (rape), 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment) and 118 (intentionally causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous weapon or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official said.

The accused is on the run and is being sought by the police, he said.

The city of Badlapur was rocked by the sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls by a male teacher of a private school. The incident led to massive protests, following which the Maharashtra government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.
